Celebrating 100 Million Projects

The MIT App Inventor server reached the milestone of hosting 100 million projects in February 2024.

In February 2024, the MIT App Inventor server reached the milestone of hosting 100,000,000 projects! Since its inception in 2008 at Google Labs, MIT App Inventor has empowered individuals of all ages and backgrounds to transform their ideas into reality through user-friendly tools and resources. This latest milestone is a testament to the far-reaching impact of the platform, which has been translated into 20 different languages and is used in over 200 countries and regions around the world. MIT App Inventor makes technological creation accessible to anyone anywhere, whether they are a student exploring the world of coding for the first time or a seasoned professional pushing the boundaries of mobile app development.

The diversity of projects created using MIT App Inventor is awe-inspiring, from AI-assisted study companions, to mental health journaling apps, to IoT-connected environmental monitors. Some projects are made for personal use, while others are submitted to our Appathon competitions (see past Summer Appathon and App of the Season projects), and others yet are published in an app store. Regardless of its path, every project is rewarding in its own way and testifies to the boundless potential in all of us that can be unlocked through the power of technology.

As we celebrate this momentous achievement, we extend our deepest gratitude to the entire MIT App Inventor community. Your creativity, passion, and dedication helped us reach this incredible milestone, whether you are an open source contributor to our platform, a power user who tirelessly answered questions in our community forum, an educator who used our tool to instill creativity and problem solving in your students, or a learner who built your first app using MIT App Inventor. We are continuously inspired by your innovative spirit and look forward to supporting and empowering you on your future app development journey.
